The Birmingham suburb of Yardley, an area steeped in history, is in the Bordesley Green area of the city. It was recorded in the 1086 Domesday Book when part of Worcestershire and was historically important because it was owned by Pershore Abbey. It’s most famous building is Blakesley Hall, and it held its own races in the midlle of the 18th century. The two day meeting extended from Monday 8th to Tuesday 9th June 1747 in the grounds of the Swan Inn owned by Mr Simon Whinnick, both cards consisting of two £50 Purses.
